An Historic Day For Canada At The US Open As Bianca Andreescu Defeats Serena Williams For The Trophy

Appearing in her first main draw debut at the US Open, Andreescu ended her astounding tennis season with a victory in the Grand Slam Final yesterday evening. It was a first for the Open and a first for Canada. Astonishingly, a year ago she wasn't even in the Top 200, let alone 100: she was ranked 208! In just a few months in 2019, while also recovering from a shoulder injury, Andreescu fought her way into the Top 20. She was ranked #15 during the Open and after yesterday's straight set achievement she will be in the Top 5.
