If You Have Too Good Of A Time, Maybe You Shouldn't Post On Facebook

Nathalie Blanchard of Quebec found this out the hard way. Blanchard, who suffers from major depression, had been on a year-long medical leave from her job with IMB in Bromont and received sick-leave benefits from Manulife. This fall she stopped receiving benefits after Manulife called her and said that based on posted Facebook photos that showed her at a Chippendale bar show, her birthday party and a sun holiday, she was available to work and clearly no longer depressed.

Blanchard told the CBC that on her doctor's advice, she tried to go out and have fun as a way to forget her problems. Manulife wouldn't comment on the case but said they would not deny or terminate a claim solely based on information published on Web sites such as Facebook.
