Justin Bieber Fans Go Nuts In Long Island

Thousands of girls showed up at a Garden City mall in anticipation of an appearance by teen pop singer Bieber Saturday afternoon. A crowd of nearly 3000 screaming young ladies and adults started pushing and shoving two hours before the scheduled 4:00 performance as they eagerly awaited the 15-year-old at the Roosevelt Island Mall. The actions of the attendees caused ropes to collapse and people were knocked to the ground, forcing police to shut down the mall but not before five people were taken to hospital for minor injuries.

Officers arrested James Roppo, a VP from Bieber's record label, Island Def Jam Records (which released the Canadian singing sensation's first album, My World, this week) , after finding that he was uncooperative with attempts to disperse the fans. Roppo was charged with several misdemeanors, including endangering the welfare of children. The Nassau County PD had asked for his assistance via a Twitter message.

Law enforcement would not allow Bieber to enter the mall. The singer twittered that police threatened him with arrest if he didn't leave.
