Nova Scotia-Born, This 104-Year-Old Has Some Ideas On How To Live Long And Well: Knit!

It all started when she was not even 5. Dorthea Brown has been sewing since her mother got her started so she would stop crying and fussing as a four-year-old. Growing up in Canada in her grandparents' home, the house was lit with kerosene lamps and her one companion was a baby lamb.

A century later, she still knits with a weekly circle of friends. who also look after her, taking care of Brown's trash, washing her curtains, taking her to church and for manicures. She usually goes to bed early but for Thursday nights, she makes an exception for Knitting Night.
