After having become eligible for induction way back in 1998, the band patiently sat out every ceremony until this year, when they appeared on the ballot for the first time and got in. At long last they've been granted seats at the table.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Geddy Lee, in very Canadian fashion, told the magazine he had no mixed feelings about the long delay. "My emotions are very simple and have always been about the Hall of Fame. It's something that I had absolutely nothing to do with and had no
control over, so I never thought much about it, to be frank. But I
appreciated how much it meant to our fan base."
When Rolling Stone remarked that some fans will suggest that the bandmembers stay home in protest, noting that Axl Rose did so last year, and that the Sex Pistols refused to come, Lee replied, "We're nice Canadian boys. We wouldn't do that."
