Cy Young Winner R.A. Dickey Traded To The Blue Jays

The Mets pitcher, who had an amazing year pitching for the New York team, has been making headlines for incredible knuckleballer skills.

Dickey's career had hit the skids by the time the Texas Rangers had gotten hold of him, In 2005, his coaches encouraged him to become a full-time knuckleballer after some fallow years he saw his luck change two years ago when he was pitching for the Mets Triple-A team in Buffalo. In a single start that season, he retired 27 batters in a row.

Since then he's had three seasons in the pros, throwing more than 600 innings with a 2.95 ERA, a big jump from an ERA of 5.45 in 2010.

As a Blue Jay, Dickey will be under contract through 2015, and if the Jays want to hold onto him for an additional year, they hold a US$12-Million option.

Of his new team, Dickey told the National Post, “I’m all in. I’m going to pitch my guts out for the Toronto Blue Jays, the fan base there. [Anthopoulos] knows what he’s getting and I know what I’m getting. I feel like that’s a good start to a good marriage.”
