Child star Corey Haim has died of an apparent accidental drug overdose at age 38. He collapsed early this morning and his mother, with whom he shared a home in California, called paramedics. He was taken to hospital and pronounced dead at 2:15. Authorities found four prescription drug bottles but no illegal drugs in the apartment.
The Toronto-born actor had had a long history of drug abuse and rehab, having admitted in interviews that he first started using drugs while filming The Lost Boys.
He was most recently seen in Crank: High Voltage and his A&E series with frequent co-star Corey Feldman. At the time of his death, Haim had completed a number of film projects so his final on-screen appearances may yet still be to come.
