Garcon, There's a Rock In My Whiskey

Wait, it's actually Sippin' on the Rocks: actual granite rocks that chill your drink. The way it works: Scottish granite is portioned into cubes, polished and frozen by you. Now what does Scotland have to do with Canada, you're surely asking? (that's a little shout-out to Leslie Nielsen).

Canadian Geochemist Dr. Howard Lahti, while working the Candian Shield near his hometown in Mattawa, Ontario, added pieces of cold granite to his beverage, providing a non-diluted result that retains the flavour of the Scotch whiskey. The final development phase was done mainly in Pictou, Nova Scotia, the birthplace of New Scotland. A little history for ya there.

Given the pedigree, I think the folks over at Thrillist are just talking smack and looking for an excuse to punch up this image:

SOTR's future plans include patented vodka, tequila, and bourbon rocks, made with stone from Russia, Mexico, and the US -- because the only thing the Rocks and the Neats can agree on is that people who use Canadian stones in Irish whiskey deserve the most ferocious justice the streets have to offer.
