TransCanada Responds To Keystone Pipeline Oil Leak

On Thursday, approximately 795,000 litres of oil leaked in South Dakota. It remains to be seen whether any of the water systems in the area have been affected. The cause is currently unknown.

The pipeline is responsible for transporting crude from Alberta to refineries in Illinois and Oklahoma and passes through a number of states along the way including the Dakotas. There have been multiple leaks over the course of the last 15 years. There was a leak less than two years ago in April 2016. TransCanada will be tasked with doing the clean up. Nebraska is due to vote on expansion of the pipeline next week.
