For the first time in two decades the World Series will truly be an international affair with Toronto getting a seat at the table after sewing up the American League East title last Wednesday with a record of 93 wins and 69 losses. The team has made an astounding comeback since the All Star break when they were 45-46. For the second half of the season they stormed into first place with 48 wins and just 23 losses.
Toronto went 4-2 against the Rangers during the regular season. Having Josh Donaldson no doubt helped. Donaldson led the majors with 122 runs and racked up 123 RBIs, the most in the American League. Toronto lead the majors in runs scored (891), home runs (232) and ranked second in batting average (.270).
The Jays will face the Texas Rangers in the opening round this Thursday at the Rogers Centre. The first game is scheduled to start at 3:30 PM EST. Game 2 is a lunch time match up, also in Toronto. For Game 3 the teams will be in Texas for an evening rendezvous, but if a Game 4 is necessary, the Jays and Rangers will go back to Toronto. Time TBD. Home-field advantage for the Jays should work in their favour. They were 53-28 and the Rogers Centre this year.
