The big news of the day is of course the election. The Liberal Party emerged victorious with the results in earlier tonight. Justin Trudeau, son of former PM Pierre Trudeau, will be Canada's next Prime Minister, defeating Stephen Harper's chances of a fourth consecutive mandate. It's a tremendous combat for the Liberal Party who saw their fortunes go way south in 2011, holding only 36 seats at the time of Parliament's dissolution. The Liberals are leading or elected in more than 180 ridings. The party has taken the lead in every province except British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. The Tories were leading or elected in more than 100 seats while the NDP held at a disappointing 35.
In non-election news, The Blue Jays stay alive with a victory in Game 3 over the visiting Kansas City Royals. The Jays had a colossal third inning, scoring seven times and leading 9-2. The Royals fought hard and put a dent in the Jays's lead in the 9th but Toronto stayed the course, winning 11-8.
The Jays play tomorrow at 4:00 in Toronto.
Stay tuned for more election developments as votes continue to come in.
