After Taking Some Time Off, All Things Canadian Is Back And Just In Time For Some First-Week Triumphs At The US Open!

Yesterday, Eugenie Bouchard and Milos Raonic both were up for Day 3 and their second round matches. Bourchard, ranked 25, took on Polona Hercog of Slovenia, winning in three sets: 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-3. Bouchard, 21, has struggled in 2015, losing 14 of her last 17 matches, after having an amazing run last year. This time out she's looking to former champion Jimmy Connors for some guidance. Raonic had to battle, but was victorious after four sets against Spain's Fernando Verdasco. The 10th seed blasted through the first set, winning 6-2 in 26 minutes. Raonic, who has struggled with a foot injury this season that sidelined him for the French Open, won the second set 6-4, but needed a medical timeout in the second set and massages during some of the changeovers. Raonic couldn't pull off the tie breaker, losing 6-7 (5) before coming back to win the tie breaker in the 4th set 7-6(1).

Next up for Raonic is 18th seed Fernando Lopez, the Spaniard who beat American Mardy Fish in yesterday's second round. Bouchard goes up against Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova in the third round. Both are scheduled to play tomorrow.
