In Case You Missed The Story Of The Epic Layover A Few Weeks Back

In what Travel & Leisure purports to be the worst layover ever (and they make a good case), passengers on a United Airlines flight from Chicago to London on June 13th had to make a landing in Newfoundland three hours into the trip. The 176 passengers were stuck on the plane for hours before being told they would have to spend the night at a military base in the barracks at Goose Bay. There were no blankets, towels or heat available to the stranded. Even in June, temperatures got down into the 30s (and that's Fahrenheit, not Celsius). According to a CNN meteorologist, it was in fact the coldest day of the month. United also didn't have any members of the flight crew at the base to give people information. After 20 hours, the passengers were picked up for breakfast and brought to the mess hall later flown to Newark, where they boarded a flight to London. The one saving grace is that United promised a refund to passengers.

Kind of makes the usual travel woes pale by comparison.
