Milos Raonic, who is the #10 seed, is generating a lot of buzz. This morning he won his first round match against Thomas Fabbiano in straight sets. Raonic, who has been nicknamed The Missile by tennis commentator Brad Gilbert, had 28 aces and 52 winners. He'll be playing unseeded Pablo Andujar next.
Last night, before play was suspended by rain, Vasek Pospisil began his opener and was up two sets to one. But his opponent, Rogerio
Dutra Silva, led the fourth set 4-0 and Pospisil appeared to have
suffered a leg injury. They are due back on the court later today.
And then there is the far less showy left-hander Daniel Nestor, who will be competing in his 21st consecutive Open as a doubles player. This ties him with Andrew Agassi's Open era record. Nestor is the oldest active ATP regular and will turn 41 during the second week of play. Nestor has 11 rand Slam titles, holds an Olympic Gold medal and has 1000 victories in singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Nestor will be paired with Pospisil at the Open. The week the Open ends, Canada will visit Serbia with a chance to reach its first Davis Cup final.
Also advancing to the second round is Canada's Frank Dancevic.
