Two Musical Legacies Get Together And Have A Baby

Earlier this month, singer Rufus Wainwright announced that he and his fiance welcomed a baby girl into their family. The baby's mother is Lorca Cohen, daughter of Leonard Cohen. The new arrival was born in Los Angeles February 2nd and the parents named her Viva Catherine Wainwright Cohen.

On his website Wainwright announced her birth with a phrase from his favourite French folk song, A La Claire Fontaine: 'Il y a longtemps que je t'aime, jamais je ne t'oublierai.'" (I've loved you so long, and I'll never forget you).

The singer will take a break from new parenting duties when he comes to Town Hall for May 12th and 13th for a celebration of music written by his late mother, Kate McGarrigle.
