Last night, the boys who were nominated for the shared title role of Billy Elliot in the Broadway show Billy Elliot, the Musical, including Montreal native David Alvarez, took home the prize. Alvarez, 15, and his co-leads had already won the Outer Critics Circle Award for special achievement and a Fred Astaire for dance.
Even though the role is split among three individuals, it's 2 1/2 hours of singing, dancing and acting at each performance. Alvarez beat out 1500 other young hopefuls.
In all, the show scored 10 Tony Awards.
