For Canadians, The Grammys Were A Lot Like The Summer Olympics: Not Much Gold In Them Hills

Or to put a finer point on it, Rush, nominated for the sixth time (Best Rock Instrumental Performance for Hope), has NEVER won! And that streak stayed alive tonight. Another legend who went home empty handed: Neil Young (Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for No Hidden Path), who lost to John Mayer! Young too has been denied any Grammy glory during his lengthy career.

Northern Cree, a First Nations group nominated for their fourth time (Best Native American Music Album) have yet to make it to the winner's circle either. The 15-member group, which includes dancers, has been around for 20 years. Their album, Red Rock, took home Best Pow Wow Contemporary Album at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards in November.

Canada did score one win prior to the televised show as Montreal-born film director Jason Reitman picked up a prize for the soundtrack to Juno, which featured contributions from actors Michael Cera and Ellen Page. The soundtrack beat out co-nominees Mamma Mia! and American Gangster.
