To add to all of this joyousness, a story that could have turned out very badly but had a very happy ending.
After three days of being buried in the snow, Donna Molnar of Hamiltion, who had gone out as a snowstorm approached to do some grocery shopping, was amazingly found alive! With a search and rescue dog, Ray Lau made his way on Monday through an ice-covered farmer's field near a farmer's market not far from where Molnar's van was found the day before. Lau had been searching along with nearly two dozen other rescuers and four dogs. The province was typically frigid with temperatures of 30 degrees Celcius and Negative-20 winds. The dog ran off and suddenly started barking. They found the missing housewife with her face entirely covered by snow save for one eye staring back at Lau. Luckily for Molnar, the 60-centimetres-deep (three feet) mound of snow had helped to insulate her. Like a typically polite Canadian, Molnar apologized, telling a police department Staff Sergeant. that "I just wanted to take a walk, I'm sorry to have caused you any trouble."
Molnar's recovery from severe frostbite and hypothermia will be ongoing, but she was upgraded Wednesday from critical to serious.
