Dallas Stars' Sean Avery Gets Six Game Suspension

The Vogue intern, dater of hot celebrities and notorious all around hothead, was suspended by the NHL for making crude remarks about his ex-girlfriends dating other hockey players. The forward had sought out reporters on Tuesday and said, "I'm really happy to be back in Calgary; I love Canada. I just want to comment on how it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my (former girlfriends). I don't know what that's about, but enjoy the game tonight." This is his first suspension, although amongst his long list of misdeeds, in 2005 he was reprimanded by the NHL for making disparaging remarks about French-Canadian players. Last season he was fined $2500 for his role in two pregame fights.

Avery has twice led the NHL in penalty minutes and is second this season. The league cited his "pattern of unacceptable and anti-social behavior." Avery agreed to be evaluated for anger management, which is required for his return to the team. He is eligible to play again on December 16th if the Stars are willing to take him back. He's in the first year of a four-year, $15.5 million deal.
