Early this morning, a series of blasts from a round-the-clock propane facility in the northern part of the city forced thousands to evacuate their homes. Amateur video showed an orange glow that quickly grew into a fireball and then into billowing clouds of flame and smoke. The explosions closed a 16-km (10-mile) stretch of the 401 expressway, one of Canada's busiest highways. No serious injuries reported.
