Okay, not really and not even close. But the Canadians are dangerously close to reaching double digit medal tallies. Right now the count is 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze. Over the weekend Team Canuck picked up a silver for trampoline and a silver for team jumping.
Karen Cockburn, 27, earned a score of 37 in the women's trampoline, just getting edged out by China for the gold. It was a special triumph for the athlete for two reasons: she tore cartilage in her right knee in October and it wasn't certain she would be ablet to compete. Also, it was Cockburn's third Olympic medal in the event, making her only the fourth Canadian in a non-team or non-relay event to win a medal in three consecutive games.
Veteran rider Ian Millar, 61, picked up his first medal in his ninth Olympic appearance. The victory for Millar was especially sweet since he was competing following the death of his wife earlier this year. It was the first medal in equestrian in 32 years for the mother country.
Tonight, Simon Whitfield goes for his second gold medal in the Men's Triathalon.
