Canadians Blowing Up The Dial This Summer

Baby, it's hot outside so stay indoors and enjoy the exported talent on the tube.

Perfect for summer: relive those hazy 1970s days via Swingtown on CBS on Thursday nights, starring the lovely and luminous Molly Parker (late of Deadwood). An interview with Parker from AOL Canada: http://entertainment.aol.ca/article/molly-parker-intv-swingtown/244359/

Also on Thursday nights, Soapnet has picked up the Canadian show MVP, about, what else, hockey! It's like the U.K.'s Footballers' Wives, but on the ice. Intrigued? http://soapnet.go.com/soapnet/show/path-showname_mvp/category_shows?lid=HomeFlash&lpos=module3

And next week, Flashpoint premieres on July 11th on CBS. It's based on a real unit in Toronto, focusing on a team of specially trained Canadian police officers who respond to crises outside the usual domain of the police department. It stars Enrico Colantoni (of the beloved Veronica Mars and Canadian - who knew?) and - Felicity alert - Amy Jo Johnson as the only female member of the team. The show was picked up during the writers' strike and will air simultaneously on Canadian and US networks, which hasn't happened since CBS aired the awesome and unappreciated Due South in 1994.
